Thursday Theory – Wine Doesn’t Matter To Weight Loss

Whilst double checking the calories in the glass of wine I was having I came across this little gem – I think it’s fabulous news as I am quite partial to a glass or two of fermented grapes. I do have to remember that the research says ‘moderate amounts’, not ‘copious amounts’, lol.

Expert Insight

A 2004 study by M. Flechtner-Mors and colleagues and published in the “International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders” found that though most diets forbid alcohol as empty calories, abstention from alcohol made no difference in weight loss. The study participants who drank moderate amounts of white wine while following a calorie-restricted diet lost the same amount of weight as those who drank grape juice on the same diet.
